Jeremy Walker

Jeremy Walker is a proud Southern Illinois resident whose background and work ethic reflect the 58th Senate District and the hard-working people who live there.

Born in rural Illinois, Jeremy was raised on his family’s farm, and when he was a teenager, his family moved to the heart of the 58th district to Red Bud in Randolph County.

After graduating from Red Bud High School, Jeremy attended Belleville Area College (now Southwestern Illinois College) in Belleville. After earning his associate’s degree, Jeremy attended college at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. There, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Agribusiness. He spent his college summers working on his family’s farm.

After college, Jeremy continued his education at SIU-Carbondale where he earned his law degree. Since becoming a licensed attorney, Jeremy has worked in a private law practice in Randolph County. He is a partner in the law firm of Arbeiter and Walker where he employs local people and faces the everyday challenges of being a small business owner. For the past five years, Jeremy has also engaged in public service as the Randolph County Public Defender. His law practice has taken Jeremy to all parts of the district and allowed him to represent people from different parts of the region.

In 2005, Jeremy married Red Bud native Jennifer Gielow. Jennifer works at her family’s long-standing small business in Red Bud. Jeremy and his wife recently had their first child, Grayson Glenn, in August.

The son of a teacher and insurance agent, Jeremy worked his way through college and law school – which included working on his family’s farm, at a local grocery store, on campus at SIUC and at Belleville Shoe Manufacturing.

Jeremy strongly believes in giving back to the community he calls home. He is a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Bud where he formally served as Vice-Chair of the Church Council. He is also a member of the Red Bud Chamber of Commerce, the Red Bud Lions Club and the Illinois State and Randolph County Bar Associations.

Jeremy is also an avid sportsman who enjoys hunting and fishing.
