CARBONDALE - Jeremy Walker says he doesn't represent the usual interests of Democrats currently in the Illinois GeneralAssembly.
Instead, the 32-year-old attorney from Red Bud contends his run against Republican state Sen. Dave Luechtefeld for the 58th District is about bringing a new generation and a fresh perspective to Springfield. Walker told members of The Southern Illinoisan editorial board Monday he's not afraid of the challenge in running against the popular incumbent, because he's driven to see the well-being of Southern Illinoisans improved and the state's $13 billion budget hole reduced.
One of the ways he wants to see that done is increasing the number of decent jobs in the region.
