Du Quoin, Ill. — The Du Quoin Rotary Club Tuesday hosted Democrat candidate for Illinois Senate (58th District) Jeremy Walker from Red Bud at its weekly meeting.

Walker is opposing Republican incumbent David Luechtefeld in November.

The meeting held at Francie’s Bed & Breakfast also served to announce that the Rotary’s “Greatest Generation” book project has been completed and went to the printer this week to be published and distributed before Veterans Day.

The project was begun 18 months ago and was a partnership between the Rotary and the American History class at the Du Quoin High School. More than 40 living World War II veterans were interviewed by high school students. Those biographies are being published in a softbound book to honor the “Greatest Generation.”

The stories are inspiring.

Information about how the book will be distributed will be published as soon as that information becomes available.

Jeremy Walker recently hosted a press conference in front of the grandstand at the Du Quoin State Fair alongside Illinois Senate President Cullerton to show his continued support for funding of the Du Quoin State Fair.
